In the past I have had the impression that Sebastian has
not wholly bought into my advocacy of portraying anti-gun people as bigots. But this
post by him has him landing on the topic with both feet and getting into a word
fight with the Brady Campaign.

I can understand people being of the opinion that pushing
the bigotry meme is not productive.

Starbucks has brushed aside a request from a gun control advocacy group to ban the display of guns in its retail locations, saying it will abide by laws that allow patrons to openly carry unloaded weapons.

The national Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence made the request in the wake of a series of meetings in local restaurants over the past few months by Bay Area Open Carry, a group that hopes to make it legal to carry loaded guns in California.

Again, I think they are misunderstanding what I’m saying. First, one must understand what a bigot is:

a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially :one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

This might typically have racial connotations, but it doesn’t have to. Bigot successfully describes anyone who is intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, toward any group, not just toward racial minorities or ethnic groups.

In writing yesterday's post about pocket autos, I spent some time examining the actual pistols as well as exploded drawings. I also looked at the drawings of the two early American autos of which I don't yet have representative examples on hand, the Remington 51 and the Smith & Wesson .35. Most pocket pistols on the market after World War Two sprang from one of three evolutionary families: The 1903/1908 Colt/Brownings, the Walther PP, or the Beretta.

Joe Huffman notices the virtual snowball fight that I engaged with in the Bradys and brought up the issue of bigotry again. I think it’s pretty undeniable, and thinking about it, bigotry was exactly what angered me about Morford’s editorial. A commenter over at Joe’s seems surprised, and asks, “So are you saying that there is a prejudice against gun owners in the same way there was against Jews and Blacks?”

There is, and not really that specifically gun ownership, but in the culture that surrounds, or perhaps in the culture the bigot perceives surrounds it.

Not so much.
I saw an interesting post on several other gun blogs about what people carry daily, so I decided to add my own.
My wife pretty much thinks I'm nuts for carrying all this, and I can see why. So here is my pictorial assemblage for my on-person carry stuff:

Lets go clockwise from the firearm...
1.

Some interesting developments over at Clean Up ATF. An agent had infiltrated the Hell's Angels and Aryan Brotherhood, they managed to find out where he lived, and he and his family got credible violent threats. The agency agreed to put him in the LEOs' version of witness protection and kept screwing up. When he pointed that out, his superior retaliated by withdrawing what little security he did have, and his house promptly was burned to then ground. He sues for breach of contract, ATF moves to dismiss, and loses the motion.
