How's that Gun Control Working Out for You?

The Daily Mail reports:The most violent country in Europe: Britain is also worse than South Africa and U.S.

Britain's violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it is revealed today.

Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa - widely considered one of the world's most dangerous countries.

The figures comes on the day new Home Secretary Alan Johnson makes his first major speech on crime, promising to be tough on loutish behaviour.

US Citizen finds an interesting ranking of gun blogs. Interesting to me that the two anti-gun blogs (Gun Guys and Brady) seem to get all their web-fu from various social sites.

Some highlights:

They state that no other state allows carry in "bars," then in the footnotes list 23 states that do.
Their entire argument seems to be that writing an exemption for carry permit holders equates to specifically allowing guns in bars, and no other state specifically allows it.
They falsely state that Carry Permit Holders can carry while drunk
"Petitioners aver that the law violates due process and amounts to a taking of property that exposes bars and restaurants that serve alcohol to guns with no effective deterrent to carrying guns on posted premises and increases civil liability for shootings.

We are now exactly one month away from the shipping of the Baen edition of Monster Hunter International. I’m positively giddy. If I get a little too giddy, I’ll just watch the news to bring me back down, but until then I’m eagerly awaiting July 28th.

When I signed my contract with Baen and discontinued the Print On Demand version of MHI, it seemed like it would be forever until it was available again. During that time I wrote two and a half other books. I can’t believe that it is time.

Last Sunday I was at the Paul Bunyan Gun Club in Puyallup, Washington shooting in one of their monthly "Fun Steel" matches. On our squad was a fellow named Mark Knapp. I'd never met Mark before, and as the day progressed we got a chance to talk a bit.

NSSF To Co-Sponsor Gun Blogger Rendezvous (2)

This one's been in the works for a while, but it's now official, The National Shooting Sports Federation will be co-sponsoring this year's Gun Blogger Rendezvous. NSSF has agreed to pick up the tab for the "All you can eat" Pizza feed on Saturday night in our Hospitality room. Since the cost of the pizza will now not come out of the Rendezvous Registration money, it, in effect, is a donation to Project Valour-IT, as all money after expenses raised by the Rendezvous goes to Project Valour-IT.

I now have confirmation from Kerby Smith of Para USA regarding the pistol that Para USA is donating to the Project Valour-IT fund raising raffle to be held at the Gun Blogger Rendezvous. Para is having a hard time meeting the demand for their products, but they will definitely be donating a brand new Para pistol to the Gun Blogger Rendezvous to help raise money for Project Valour-IT through the GBR raffle.

I've got all sorts of good news regarding the Gun Blogger Rendezvous coming up, but I'm waiting for full confirmation before announcing anything new.
