I tried to live blog this but it did not happen. Here is my wrap up of the day.

HB-517 hearing an all day affair: 12:45

There were quite a few bills being heard today.
The First bill was about electronic intercept of electronic messages. Some legislator is beating this like a dead horse. They are arguing about the difference between stored and live transmission. Gahh.
Its like watching Bill Clinton trying to getting a definition.

The legislator that sponsored HB-517 is up : 2ish
He starts by trying to push this as a last chance for law enforcement.

No criminal charges will be filed against two police officers who accidental shot a South Jersey toddler after a gun went off in his home.

The shooting happened when his father, a Deptford Township police officer, and another officer were cleaning their firearms.

Mayor Bloomberg has problems with 1st as well as the 2nd amendment (2)

According to the New York Sun, Mayor Bloomberg has moved, in the suit against a GA gun dealer, to forbid the defense from mentioning the Second Amendment. As the paper notes, "While trials are often tightly choreographed, with lawyers routinely instructed to not tell certain facts to a jury, a gag order on a section of the Constitution would be an oddity."

I suppose we'll see if Hon. Jack Weinstein has problems with both amendments as well.

UPDATE: it's called "long arm jurisdiction." A very technical end of the law (took a case to the state Supreme Court on it once).

David Olofson is a member of AR15.com, and has been posting regularly on his case.

Under the conditions that gained him his conviction, I'm a felon, too. My AR15 is equipped with a Jewell trigger. When I first received it, the trigger was adjusted too light and it doubled on me twice in initial testing.

The issue of the internal lock that S&W added to their revolvers is one that has generated far more heat than light on the internet over the last several years. Initial resistance was mostly split along two lines: The first was aesthetic; the new lock appeared as an ugly little metal zit on the side of the gun just above the cylinder release, complete with an inscribed "L"-and-arrow indicating which direction to turn it to disable the gun, and a Rube Golberg-esque flag that popped up to indicate that the gun was locked.

Let me state this very clearly, at the beginning of this post: Three mutants robbed a bank and one of them killed Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski, a Philadelphia policeman. Any and every time a cop is killed in the line of duty, all of us who are law abiding citizens suffer a terrible loss and of course that pales in comparison to the loss felt by that officer’s family. In this post, I have no intention of belittling this tragedy or trying to minimize it in any way.

A Tale of Three Criminal Records (1)

The clarion call has been sounded, both by the politicians in Philadelphia, and by the Philadelphia media, that the only way we’re going to prevent cop killings on our streets is to pass more gun laws. The Philadelphia media has spent precious few resources concentrating on the three pieces of human debris that were responsible for the shooting death of Sergeant Liczbinski. I have managed to obtain complete criminal records for all three of the murderers.

Howard Cain was the trigger man in the Liczbinski murder. You can see his fifteen page criminal record here.
